E-Letter to the Trinity Family -- October 16, 2020

Greetings Trinity Family,

I hope this email finds everyone doing well.   The leaves are changing and the world is awash in orange and red.  I pray you take note of the beauty of God’s creation when you look outdoors!

I hope you will all join us for worship this Sunday at either 10:15 am or 11 am.  Attached to this email is a worship outline that includes the words to the UCC Statement of Faith.

This will be our sixth Sunday to have in-person worship services limited to 25 people.  The service will be held in our Education Building.  We will also Facebook livestream our 10:15 am service and offer a service on Zoom at 11 am.

We are co-hosting the Skippack Halloween Parade TOMORROW at 10 am.  This year’s parade will be very different because of Covid-19 safety guidelines.  The parade is tomorrow. If you are able to help, please join us in the parking lot between 9 and 9:30 am.

We are going to have our annual Turkey Dinner as a drive-through only supper.  It will be on November 7, 2020 with us serving from 4 to 7 pm.  In order to have the supper, we need lots of volunteers!

·       We  need three volunteers to help make mashed potatoes on November 4th at 9 am

·        We need as many volunteers as possible to make pepper cabbage, potato filling, set up our space, put cold items in containers, and bake pies on Friday, November 6 starting at 9 am.

·        We need volunteers all day on Saturday, November 7.

o   Our cooking and food preparation volunteers are invited to begin coming in at 10 am.

o   We need servers to help take orders and deliver them to cars from 3 to 7 pm.

o   We need our clean-up crew from 6 to 9 pm.

Volunteers of all ages are needed the day of the dinner.  If you are a volunteer, you are welcome to eat at church during a “break.”

If you are able to help, please let me know or call the church office: 610-584-4054.

This Sunday, as part of our worship service, we will join together in a statement of faith that quotes from the Epistle of Titus.  If you would like to join along in saying the words at home, here they are:

An Affirmation of God’s Grace (Based on Titus 3)

We believe in God who saved us

Not because of good things we have done,

But because of God’s mercy.

God saved us by the washing of rebirth,

And renewal by the Holy Spirit,

Whom God poured out on us generously

Through Jesus Christ our Savior;

So that justified by his grace

We might become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

This is a trustworthy saying.  Amen.

We continue to collect food and toiletry items for the Daily Bread Food Pantry.  They can be left at the doors of the church.

The Daily Bread has started their annual coat drive for kids.  They can use coats for all sizes for boys and girls.  The Daily Bread would like “brand new coats.”

The Daily Bread's Current needs change every few weeks. This is their latest list of needs:

Food: Jelly, tuna, side dishes (hamburger helper, Noodle Roni, Rice a Roni), Cookie/brownie mixes, Individual snack size bags of cookies & chips, canned tomato products, and chicken and beef broth.

And any other items you wish to donate would greatly be appreciated!

If you would like to borrow a hymnal from the church, please let me know and I will arrange for you to receive one.

We are having a special service to honor Veterans on Sunday November 8 at 2 pm in our church cemetery at the stone cross.  Everyone is invited….both veterans and people who support those who served.  We will be masked and will observe social distancing guidelines.  Please invite friends and family members to join us for this special service.

Reverend Charles Maxfield recently celebrated his ordination anniversary.  Pastor Chuck served as Trinity’s interim minister about 10 years ago before Pastor Michael came to Trinity.  Several members sent remembrances for Pastor Chuck’s anniversary celebration.  Pastor Chuck wrote me this note thanking us for these remembrances:

Amelie,

Please share with the congregation my thanks for their participation in my ordination anniversary.  The comments they sent were a major part of a brochure shared at my anniversary.  I was wondering who prepared it?  It's good to know my recipes and poems have a place in your archives.  By the way, I found a new recipe for peanut butter sauce.  I enjoyed it on my ice cream Sunday afternoon.  The recipe can be found at:

https://www.food.com/recipe/easy-microwave-peanut-butter-ice-cream-topping-122218

Thanks for your friendship, your willing service, and your good food.

Chuck Maxfield

Trinity now has a blog where I am posting notes to the congregation and the text of my sermons.  If you would like to read these notes and messages, you can find them at: www.trinityskippack.blogspot.com

I will “see” you in worship on Sunday!

Many blessings!!

Pastor Amelie
