E-Letter to the Trinity Family -- November 13, 2020

Greetings Trinity Family,

I hope everyone is doing well this beautiful Friday afternoon!  It has stopped raining for a moment.  Despite the chilly weather, please take a good look at God’s creation when you are outdoors!

We have a lot going on at the church that I want you to know about!

Our Annual Congregational Business meeting is on Sunday at 12 pm.  Everyone is encouraged to participate to hear about our church’s plans for 2021 and to hear how things have been going for the church in 2020.  Here is the ZOOM link for the meeting:

We continue to have in-person worship services limited to 25 people.  The service will be held in our Education Building.  We will also Facebook livestream our 10:15 am service and offer a service on Zoom at 11 am.

This week, we are saying the United Church of Christ Statement of Faith for our Creed.  Here are the words if you don’t have it memorized:

We believe in you, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and our God, and to your deeds we testify:

You call the worlds into being, create persons in your own image, and set before each one the ways of life and death.

You seek in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.

You judge people and nations by your righteous will declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to yourself.

You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.

You call us into your church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be your servants in the service of others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil,to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.

You promise to all who trust you forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in your realm which has no end.

Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you.

Amen.

We are collecting Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  You may pick up empty shoeboxes at the church.  Please drop off your filled shoe box by November 15.  I am attaching more information to this email about the boxes.

Please drop off your shoeboxes by Sunday afternoon.  If you bring them to church and we are not here, just leave them on the park bench outside of the Education building under the porch roof.

If you would like to join us in-person on Sunday, November 22, please RSVP on Monday morning.  We will ask each attendee to come to church prior to 9:45 am so that we can watch Ralien and Amey’s hymn sing projected on the screen in the Education Building.

If you would like to attend, I am keeping a list of who RSVPs until we reach 24 attendees.  You can contact me via email, at the church office (610-584-4054), or on my cell phone (314-680-0897).

We continue to collect food and toiletry items for the Daily Bread Food Pantry.  They can be left at the doors of the church.

The Daily Bread has started their annual coat drive for kids.  They can use coats for all sizes for boys and girls.  The Daily Bread would like “brand new coats.”

The Daily Bread's Current needs change every few weeks. This is their latest list of needs:

Personal Care: deodorant, hand soap, paper towels, napkins, laundry soap, and body wash*

Food: canned peas, creamed (cooking) soups, stuffing, pasta/potato/rice sides, juice and COOKIES please

Pet Care: Cat food and litter*

And any other items you wish to donate would greatly be appreciated!

*These items can’t be purchased with Food Stamps.

Tomorrow morning, we are having a ZOOM gathering at 10 am for interested parties to chat while we color and decorate the cookie & gift bags for seniors who use the services of the Daily Bread Food pantry. Here is the link if you would like to join us:

If you would like to borrow a hymnal from the church, please let me know and I will arrange for you to receive one.

Trinity now has a blog where I am posting notes to the congregation and the text of my sermons.  If you would like to read these notes and messages, you can find them at: www.trinityskippack.blogspot.com

On November 22, we are having a tour of “Dave’s Garages.”  This year, we are adhering to Covid-19 protocol and are able to accommodate a smaller group on our tour.  The cost is $40 a person and we will meet in the church parking lot at 1 pm to begin the tour.  IF you would like to participate, please call Gary at 610-584-1468.   We still have room for about 10 more participants.

Our Trinity Reopening Committee met on Monday evening of this week.  We are monitoring the Covid-19 infection rates for Montgomery County and considering them as we plan for the Advent and Christmas season.    We are working to make faithful decisions that will keep our community as safe as possible.

Our upcoming Hoagie sale will now be on Saturday, December 5.  We need volunteers.  Please let me or Deb in the church office know if you are able to help.  We will begin taking hoagie orders soon.

We will be distributing “Advent Kits” over the next few weeks since Advent starts on November 29.  I will probably drop your kit off at your house and will call before I arrive.

I will “see” you in worship on Sunday!

Many blessings!!

Pastor Amelie
