Message to the Trinity Family -- We are "Mask Optional," Pulled Pork Supper soon, and Holy Week Schedule

Greetings Trinity Family,

WE ARE OPEN!!

We are now “Mask Optional.” Our Consistory recently met and decided we now are open to masked and unmasked worshippers. But, if Covid rates dramatically increase, we may adopt a mask-wearing policy again.

Our Worship services are both in-person in our sanctuary and live-streamed on facebook.

Please join us in the Sanctuary at 9:45 for our Hymn Sing, followed at 10:15 with our worship service.

Our Sunday School classes have resumed! Our pre-confirmation class meets at 9:15 in the Education Building and our children’s class meeting during worship following the children’s sermon. This school year, our children’s class has been meeting in our choir room. Nursey care is available for our little ones.

Our Wired Word class is both online and in-person. We gather at 8:30 am in our Education Building and on Zoom.

Our Lunch Bunch Bible Study has resumed meeting on Tuesdays at 12 pm in the Education Building.  Please bring your own lunch – we have not resumed “pot-luck” sharing at Lunch Bunch.  Everyone is welcome to join Lunch Bunch – we pray, eat, and discuss the Bible passages we will focus on in worship the following Sunday.

Choir Practice has resumed on Wednesday evenings at 7 pm in our Sanctuary.

TRINITY PULLED PORK SUPPER – April 2, 2022

Our Stewardship and Social Committees have begun planning a drive-through pulled pork supper. It will be on April 2, 2022.   We are serving from 4 to 7 pm.

We will need a lot of help to prepare the food, package the food, and serve the food.  Please let Pastor Amelie know if you are able to volunteer time on the 2nd, on Thursday the 31st of March or Friday the 1st of April.  There will be a volunteer sign-up sheet on the table in the Narthex (lobby).

Each meal is $12 and will include pulled pork, barbeque sauce, a roll, creamy mac & cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and either a large cookie.

To order suppers, call or email the church office 610-584-4054 & trinityskippacksec2@gmail.com

In addition to help with cooking and serving, we also need you to invite your family and friends to purchase meals.

Each volunteer will have to have all of their PA State background checks before our VBS.  Talk to Pastor Amelie if you want to volunteer and she will make sure your have the paperwork you need to obtain your background checks.

CHURCH PICNIC – SAVE THE DATE!!

Our church picnic will be July 17! LENTEN SERIES – WE NEED YOUR HELP!!

Due to the challenges of the pandemic, the churches of the Skippack Ministerium will not gather this year for our ecumenical Lenten worship services. Instead, members of Trinity are invited to create a video Lenten reflection. We need you to volunteer! Each week, members and friends of our congregation are invited to share a reflection, prayer, song or artwork. Pastor Amelie will collect your offerings at post them on the church’s facebook page.

If you would like to share an offering, please let Pastor Amelie know.  She will give you a scriptural prompt and several ideas for your offering.  If you need help making a video, Pastor Amelie is available to work with you and film your sharing.

Our topic this year is Sojourning and our weekly focus will change each Wednesday.

EASTER EGG HUNT RESUMES!!

Good News!  We will be resuming our annual Easter Egg hunt on Easter morning.  There will be a basket in the narthex (or the office) for donations of candy to be placed in the plastic eggs. We will  also accept donations of small toys.  Any questions, contact Janet Crossgrove.

HOLY WEEK SCHEDULE

Although we are not yet in the season of Lent, it is time to mark our calendars so that we will be present for Trinity’s Holy Week gatherings.

We will gather at 7 pm for an interactive worship service during which we will remember Jesus’ Last Supper, time in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, and Jesus’ arrest. We will celebrate Holy Communion and remember Jesus’ first time officiating at the Communion table with his Disciples. After we read about Jesus’ arrest, we will dramatically strip our altar and prepare for the events of Good Friday.

·        Good Friday is Friday, April 15. We will gather at 7 pm for a contemplative service and remember the events of Jesus’ crucifixion and time in the tomb.

READING PHILLIES

Prior to the pandemic, we have had a church group outing to see the Reading Phils play baseball.  We would like to offer this again if people are interested in going to a game. Although we are unsure what will ensue with the pandemic over the summer, please let Pastor Amelie know if you would be interested in participating in a group trip to watch the Reading Phils.

WINTER TUESDAY STUDY—GOD-AT-WORK

Christians in the 21st century are often in settings where we are in the minority. Our co-workers, friends, and family members are not always people who prioritize their faith. Starting on Tuesdays in January, we will begin a 12 week course called “God-At-Work: Live Each Day with Purpose.” The course combines videos with discussion. The video host is Ken Costa, a Christian who works in the banking industry. The course focuses on learning to integrate your faith and work and becoming an agent of the kingdom of God in your workplace. The teachings of this course are helpful for people who are retired and who don’t have traditional occupations in addition to 9 to 5 workers. The course will begin meeting over Zoom on January 4 and will continue to March 22. Please let Pastor Amelie know if you would like to join our course.

GIVING TO TRINITY

Although things are not fully back to normal, Trinity’s expenses have continued throughout the pandemic.  We know that everyone’s work-life has been disrupted during this time and we don’t expect everyone to be able to contribute to the church in the amount you were able to contribute in the past.  If you have the means to contribute to the church, you may drop off your offerings at the church office or you may mail it to our address: Trinity Christian UCC; 2009 Church Road, PO Box 538, Skippack, PA 19474

DON’T GIVE UP MOVEMENT

Our Outreach committee is inviting everyone in our congregation to join us in sharing messages from the “Don’t Give Up” movement.  This outreach was started to encourage people who are considering suicide to not give up.  We have yard signs, postcards, stickers, and business cards with messages that say things like “You are Enough” and “Your Mistakes Don’t Define You.” These messages are especially important right now as many people are struggling with their mental and emotional health after the many months of our pandemic.  Please pick up yard signs at church and other signs to promote this message of love for our neighbors.  Here is more about the movement:  https://www.dontgiveupsigns.com/
